Client Presentation 15/11/21

I am proud of what I have created in the past 6 weeks and it was an enjoyable project which I could also create an installation space which is a field of design I am interested in. It allowed me to focus on the brand and make something that is fun. This was a good starting point for me to know and experiment with space and installation design. I got to use clay which is a medium I started to use because I enjoy creating from it and I felt like I didn’t have time to use illustrator to create the flowers because I am not as experienced in it yet. So I am planning to upgrade my skills after this project.

Furthermore, I enjoyed hearing about my peers project as it gave me an insight of what other outcomes and subjects they focused on and I also provided my feed back of what went well and what can be improved in terms of their layout and outcome etc.

FEEDBACK –

  • smaller figures so my audience can see how big the installation is and different perspective from the installation
  • Improve on the presentation layout, start with the gate, sense of place, physical touch
  • Include smaller details on the flowers and information that shows they’re from around the world
  • Deliver it in tone, colours, fonts – playful and fun

Idea Development 1/11/21

I worked on the colours and the theme of the room. I decided I wanted a darker lighting where there’s streaks of colourful lights as well as the bright flowers which slightly lights up. Then I wanted to created a small clay installation that shows where things will be placed. I didn’t make the best of my time as it was quite hectic. So I have made sure that I should work everyday when I have time and finish so that I can convey my idea clearly to my audience. Furthermore, I am also going to create the flowers in lego form as it is more difficult to create using clay. I have tried using illustrator which is one of the programs I wanted to improve my skills on. but I created the lego forms on procreate for the sketching part first.

Feedback – great on focusing niche topic and the idea of an installation (creating clay based on the space and where everything will be)

I need to create the flowers in lego forms maybe using digital design. 3D is possible but it would take too long and wouldn’t be ready for the final date.

Research/Concept presentation 25/10/21

My own personal relationship with LEGO was the idea of creating based on your own world from imagination and that anything is possible from LEGO. So I had an idea of creating an installation based on a fantasy/imaginary world (something that is different from reality) Then I decided to be based on a garden as it is space where a lot can learn about. Furthermore, I researched other installations to know the kind of theme I wanted to have and other LEGO installations and how they conveyed it.

I created a sketch of having bigger flowers from all over the world and people can also learn about it. In the middle, there will be tables and seats where people can build and collaborate with others. Their unique design of flowers will also be paced around the bigger where everyone creations comes together to create this magical garden. So far I am happy with the progress as I have a solid idea for the start and focused on learning and the main brand of LEGO.

LEGO Brief 11/10/21

Starting this LEGO project was very fun as lego was part of my childhood. Building something based on the brand is something I always wanted to do. LEGO has a very bright and colourful concept and focuses heavily on learning and collaborating with others. This was a very good starting point for me itself and create something that includes these. Hearing from my classmates was very useful as it allowed me to see what was their own relationship with LEGO and made me think about my own which led thinking of ideas!
